This may have been asked before

What's the difference? Why does their's pull out 125kw and ours 118kw?

Their high-oc fuel is 100 not 98 from memory.

Mazda de rates for our fuel. The new sp20 sky active 3 has lower compression to be run on 91 instead of 95.

use higher octane fuel, adjust timing, get same result as JDM.

Thought one couldn't change the timing on NB's onward due to ECU/knock sensor and then VVT on the later models? ....

Rather than anyone explaining it, just google ignition timing, but its pretty much about changing the point in the stroke at which your spark ignites your fuel
