Does anyone make an 84.5mm 9.5:1 Piston??

Postby rxmx » Tue Oct 30, 2012 1:22 pm

Ive looked at wiseco JE supertech and cant find the above mentioned piston size in any of their catalogues.

Reason is I want to be able to run e85 and switch to pump 98 and still be able to run some boost. Not interested in mixing my own fuels etc. Just pump e85 and pump 98.

Thanks,

Not that I'm aware of. They go from 84mm to 85mm, in most ranges, no in between.

NOTE: You need to sonic test your block thoroughly for anything over an 84mm bore, as they begin to get thin, especially on a boosted application.

Thanks mate,

I'll get the block checked in the process. I beleive JE wiseco CP do make an 84.5mm piston just not in the cr that im after, they come in a 9.0:1 might have to settle for that. Wiseco only make them in really low comp 8:6 or 8:8 or really high 10.9 and above according to online catalogue.

Supertech's go straight from 84 to 85mm no in-between.

Whilst not a piston answer have you considered http://www.haltech.com/flex-fuel-sensor/ for your E85 issue?

Ive looked into it but dont really feel like dumping another 2k on electronics.

Thanks,

If happy to go with OE cast rather than forged, Mazda list a 50thou over (84.25mm) version for NB8A which is 9.5:1

Now that's some nice outside the box thinking!

Esp given that it's generally rods and rod bolts that go on these things!
When results speak for themselves - don't interrupt.
