I read up a bit about the pwr coolers a while ago. Everyone seems to have issues with the cap.

I did some base line temps on my car for comparison with turbo temps after the upgrade. With 90kw and a 52mm cooling Pro the thermostat closes on the expressway and the oil temps go sit at about 85C. The thermostat being closed means my water temp gauge drop down below the min 40C (it's on the radiator side in the upper rad hose). Oil temp/pressure gauges are just in a sandwich plate between the filter and block.

On the track my water stabilised at 95C and oil at 105C. That's with Penrite SIN10 oil and the SIN coolant too.

With the turbo I'll have a 76mm PWR core on higher pressure cap and a setrab oil cooler (plus a re-route). So still not sure if it'll be going up or down on the track....

76 mm is massive! Are you sure you are going to need it if your thermostat is closing already on the highway?

For memory 95 is about the full open point of the thermostat.

Comparing 50kpa manifold pressure on the freeway at 110kph constant and 300kpa in between corners where average speed may be 80kph isnt fair.

True, but guys in the hot states of usa can also run an evo on a civic radiator......

Few na bps using much smaller than standard radiator as well....

Standard core thickness is 25 mm for memory, so 42 is already a big step up.

Additionally, a thicker core is more resistant to airflow then a thin one which requires more fan power or speed to make it work so can actually hurt in low speed application.

My understanding is that playing with the design of the rad can have as much effect as the size. Ie cross flow or downwards, multi pass, louver pitch, rows per inch.

Of course correct ducting ect has a big effect as well.

Custom end tanks to make it twin pass and definitely will be ducted. Like Dan alluded the highway is in no way representative of the track. Steady state low power with good airflow Vs Max power with varied speeds. Plus there's always the other fun track things like slip streaming, G-forces etc.

Width doesn't directly correlate to fin density and flow either, wider the core the more flow you can have with fewer fins. The setup I'm upgrading to is already on a number of Prod Sports 2B race cars. I wanted reliability above all else and it'll still have oil and water thermostats.
