Engine Codes for NB

Postby carlmx5 » Mon Sep 10, 2012 9:02 am

hey guys, i am after an ARC super induction box and intake chamber on this authorized dealer's website, but the part i am having problems with is the engine code that it is compatible with. the product says it will fit a bp-ze engine in a NB and i am unsure if my car can fit it. it's a 1999 NB 1.8L and i it says bp-5a on the header heat shield, and i am unsure if that is the engine code. anyone know what engine code this car is, or would anyone know where i can locate the engine code? Thank you.

1998-2000 NB8A engine is usually known as the BP-4W, after the alpha-numeric identifier on the back of the head.

The Japanese websites I've looked at seem to suggest the NB8A was BPZE and the NB8B was BPVE

Either way, it's an intake pipe so the engine doesn't matter.

I'm pretty sure that all the 1.8s had the same length and diamter of crosspipe and fittings (ie: the ARC chamber should fit NA8 and NB8A)

While the intake chamber shouldn't be a problem, the induction box might be a different issue depending on where it draws air from. From memory there was a difference around the headlights of the NB8A & NB8B. Perhaps the original poster could provide a link to the product, although from a quick google some sellers say it fits USDM '99-'05, while others say ADM '98-'00.

They just suck in air from behind the headlight area.

No ducting etc, just an open foam filter.

edit:
Here's one fitted:

on a side note. ARC went bust 18 months ago. so replacement parts will come from new old stock only. another 3-5 years, they'll be no spare parts.

I think they were bailed out and are still in business.

But as a result they've dropped a lot of items from the range.
