Too many varibles go into this to have one solid answer that works for everybody.
If I owned a car that does less than 10,000km per year. I'd just replace the filter every 12 months and the oil every 6 months.
If the same car did more than 10,000km per year. I'd do both every 10,000km.
oil filter change period ?

Re: oil filter change period ?
Id replace the filter more often than the oil for sure.
Cut one open and find out why.
You realise they have bypass valves right?

Re: oil filter change period ?
The longer (km) you use the filter the less effective it is, which leads to some overly cautious people changing the filters at 2.5k instead of 5k (turbo'd engine), considering they are like $8 from repco I would just change it with every oil change any way.
Grain of salt time, but you can check out this guys test results http://minimopar.knizefamily.net/oilfilters/index.html
