The other day I finished the replacing the clutch in my '89 NA and it all seemed good for about the first 30km of driving,
but then 5th gear decided it would not engage. When I push the shifter up to the top right it sits there until I let the clutch out and
then it pops back into the neutral position. I have tried double clutching, but that still won't get it in.
It seems that I can get it into 5th at idle if I keep trying at it, but don't have any success at speed.
I've re-bled the clutch, replaced the trans fluid and the fluid in the shifter turret to no avail. I'm using Castrol VMX 80, which is what they recommend for the NA.
There also doesn't seem to be any resistance between Reverse and 5th, meaning that you can moving the shifter straight from R to 5,
which I could not do before.
The clutch I fitted was an Exedy Sports Tuff Heavy Duty
Any suggestions as to the cause of the problem?

No 5th Gear after clutch replacement
It's probably the selector rods - take it to a transmission specialist, they can probably pop the shifter out and fix it for you.

Re: No 5th Gear after clutch replacement
A quick update on this issue. I have just pulled the trams out for the second time (grrr) to find that the release bearing was partially detached from the clutch fork, I'm assuming that this is the problem.
