Thanks for your continued feedback guys. I had a phone call first thing this morning from the manager of the engine supplier business i'm dealing with, formally apologised for the massive c0ck up and asked for another day or so to try to resolve this.

If they can't get a better NA8 engine in then I'll either go down this NB route or rebuild my current engine.

Stay tuned.

NB engine into NA8 - super urgent query

/facepalm

He wants to put an NB engine in an NA8. He can if he follows geofiz's instructions. Substance over form.

I would call you a troll, except I know you are a forum regular.

I'm done responding to your smack. It's a shame this thread will prove to be a waste to anyone searching who wants to do this swap, as you have succeeded in confusing the hell out of everyone, including the OP.

Too bad about the timing, since it looks like the fitting of a NB8a into your NA8 could be done for you by zossy1 if you had both coordinated your engine swaps at the same time.

In other news, I spotted a NA 1.6 turbo/gearbox complete(?) setup on eBay. If it was a NA8 I'd have PMd you.

I would call you a troll, but instead I'll call you deliberately provocative. Either that, ignorant or you've turned into a Prima Donna. Take your pick, & while you're at it, go platt your sh!t.

Why would I want to overpay on a sh*t engine I don't need? 8) thanks for the thoughts regardless.

Best of luck with the supplier this time, Marty.

That turbo engine is overpriced for what it is, but I've not seen complete turbo engines come up for sale like that very often. Included just for novelty rather than as a serious option.

Marty, I would have thought that MX5 writeoffs should be more plentiful with the NSW writeoff laws, so that there would be a few amongst the wrecker trade in NSW. MX5 Mania doesn't have any from local wrecks or imported halfcuts? None of the Japanese importer wreckers or engine specialists? I thought the wreckers have a parts hotline sothat they can source stuff from each other quickly at a wholesale price - for these situations where a replacement is required pronto.

Let me know if I can help; it's tough that you've been left out to dry for the week while there's no engine.
