You forget, this engine is also fitted to Ford TX3 Laser :) So it is pefectly legal for I/P regulation.

Duh!  Age is catching up with me ...

140rwkw in a car weighing how much? Could be fun ... 8) Better than a Twink anyway, and a damn sight cheaper.

I never met a horsepower I didn't like (thanks bwob)

:) its pretty good fun, approx 800kg. The price of bits was the main reason for the conversion, Cosworth stuff is gold plated, so that ruled out anything BDA/BDG/YB. I had a choice between the Zetec, FS FE3 and BP Mazda.

At the time Zetec bits were still dear, you can't fit decent valves in them, and decent cams are a problem unless you want to spend a fortune on larger buckets and machining, and no one was getting decent numbers out of them even at 2ltrs anyway (and still aren't).

The FS Mazda has a crap bore/stroke ratio, and the FE3 is borderline on being ok for IP rules, and they're heavy.

The BP was the choice after much consideration, and responded well to mild changes in cams and head work on the first engine. Thats when I made a choice to put my time and effort into getting decent numbers out of it. Haven't looked back since :)

I have finally got some specs for the pistons from Supertech, looks like they'll do the job with some little mods :)
