Hi Guys
Just took ownership of a block with Supertech 10.5:1 pistons, which are 79mm OS.
Trying to make sure i get the correct head gasket.
I have been looking at the Cometic Head Gaskets - http://miataroadster.com/cometic/cometic_head_gasket/g-50719.aspx
Could someone in the know please confirm for me if i am meant to use a 80mm head gasket, as that seems to be all that Cometic makes, but then there are the varying thicknesses.
From .027in (0.6858mm) to a whopping 0.120in (3.0479mm).
I want to maintain the highest compression i can, So i am assuming the thin gasket.
Is there a quality Head gasket i can buy locally for the similar $100approx price tag?
What is everyone else running?
Thanks in advance.

Re: NA6: Head Gasket for 79mm Bore
Have a look at flyin miata, they do a +1mm overbore gasket, I think it is a Cometic one. At 79mm, I assume it is a NA6 motor.

As for thinkness, best thing to do is measure your deck height, if the pistons protrude from the block then the gasket thickness will be more important. On my build, I am going for the 0.040" (1mm) because I have my pistons sticking out 0.5mm. If your pistons don't stick out them that makes the choise easier
