I am currently tossing up ideas for cooling mods on my turbocharged NA8. Starting this weekend the car is going to be turned in to a trackday slag that is only dríven on the road to and from events.
At the moment the stock temp gauge does not budge from the normal point on track but I have only being doing short sessions.
The radiator is the stock item and as expected is a lovely chocolate brown colour so I am worried about it bursting on track. I am also worried about the heat at the back of the engine so I am looking at the various coolant reroute options.
If I fit say a 42mm cooling pro radiator AND a reroute am I going to be overcooling the engine?
Cooling options / advice.

I doubt you are going to be over cooling it, replace your thermostat at the same time.

... with a 70degC one. They're available for other makes, just make sure that you install it so that the little brass jiggly thingy opens rather than shuts when the flow comes from the engine towards the radiator.fattima wrote:I doubt you are going to be over cooling it, replace your thermostat at the same time.

Hi all,
My NB8a is turbo charged and i have done the re rout and have the ASI 52mm alloy radiator and i also have after market oil cooler fitted......but still my car gets hot after just a few laps in constant high revs
Dose the lower temp thermostat really make that much differance ? and where do i get one ?
I do still have the air con fitted and no i am not going to remove it !....... I want to solve the problem not by sacrificing comfort on the way home from the track on those hot days
At the moment i am seriously considering running another oil cooler on the passenger side in front of the wheel.......a big one!
but i am open to suggestions........
