RPM drop from airconditioner

Postby Noddycar » Wed Nov 17, 2010 6:09 pm

Hi all

I am sure this is just a fact of life with an NA, but every time my aircon cuts in I get a relatively large drop in RPM's, especially at low speeds coming up to lights etc. This can cause a bit of jerkiness and is more an annoyance than a real problem, but I was wondering if anyone had a fix to reduce the problem. I know the car get a power drop when the a/c compressor kicks in (hey, it is just a wee little 1.6!), but I wondered if there was any method of softening the drop a little....? I am not overly concerned, because it is really only at lower RPM's that the change is aggressive. At higher RPM's, the car just loses a little power and is not as noticeable.

Thanks in advance.
