Raising NA6 rev limit ? with piggyback ?

Postby emu » Fri Oct 22, 2010 3:56 pm

I run hillclimbs at Collingrove pretty successfully in a standard motor NA6
There's one point of the circuit where I leave the car in 2nd cog on the revlimiter at 7200 for 2/3 seconds, rather than change into 3rd briefly and back to 2nd (which I've tried many times for no improvement.)
What would improve my times through this point would be being able to lift the rev limit (to approx 8000 ?)
I've done this previously quite successfully with a Renault SportClio 172, using a Unichip piggyback ECU
Is there something similar available for a standard NA6 motor ? Or any other suggestions ?
Many thanks
cheers pete

simplest way on the na6 is to use a different crystal:

Keep the ratio you currently have. For hill-climb it's probably a better choice. I've had the crystal mod in my ecu for several years. IMHO . It's probably the best bet.

But if you want to rev to 8 k? Holy moly. Expect issues very soon unless you mod your internals.
