NB8a gearbox.....blown 2nd gear !

Hi all,

A couple of questions.
Is the SE gear box the strongest ? or is it the same as the NB8b 6 speed ?

Has anyone rebuilt their own gearbox or put in new synchroses (spelling

) ???

My 2nd gear sounds like when you put 3 marbles in a tin can and shake it.....but still actually drives !.... other gears seem fine...

so are gearbox parts expensiveis it a waste of time as the 5 speed is a weak box in general ??? should i just get the 6 speed ??

I mostly use 3rd when i drift so seconds isn't even getting abused that much......

thoughts ???

Waz, SE GB is stronger than NB8B 6 speed, but they're scarce.

hmmm......

are the NB8a G/box's notoriously weak ?

I can buy two 5 speeds for the price of a SE box from mx5 mania.....

gear 1,2 and 3 are stronger in the SE box. The NB8B 6 speeds are known to be stronger then 5 speeds too, But then 1st gear would be non exsistant :lol:
