Hi all
My car is a '90 with SNC. Im doing a timing belt and waterpump becuase its due and the waterpump decided to kick the bucket. I keep reading that its possible to do it without removing the crack shaft pulley. im using the " dont touch the crankshaft bolt since car is running fine with no wobble" method + i dont have the right size socket for it anyway
Ive gotten everything undone down untill the lower timing cover but i cant seem to get that out, it seems like i need to remove that last bottom pulley to get the cover out. can i just yank on it and it come free or do all the pulleys need to come off?. i guess i could remove the pulley and leave the main bolt in but it would be very painful trying to re-tighten the 4 bolts that hold the pully on.
Has anyone dones this before? should the lower timing belt cover come off without removing the crank pulley?
PS. I beleive im using the right term but i cant be sure. what im talking about is the pulley thats connected to the crankshaft that spins the water pump / altinator

I had to remove that pully that connects to the crank shaft (at the very bottom of the engin) that rotates and thus turns the water pump / altinator / ps / ac
To get timming to TDC I think you will need that 21 mm socket (which apparently you dont have) to put a socket to that bolt you may have to remove your front sway bar.
Once you remove it there is a mark notched out of the cog with gears and there is a little mark above it to get to get back to TDC (only rotate this cog clock wise).
Im pretty sure you will have to remove the timming belt in order to change your water pump.
(the green and orange things are tensioner pulleys for the timming belt and they need to be removed)

you buy the tools you need or borrow from a mate and you really should be reading a Haynes manual or copying the relevant pages. Pulleys often have to be removed with pullers however the manual should tell you. The US site also info on this subject. You get the timing wrong and your car will either not start or not run properly.
