Water pump question

Postby rxmx » Mon Apr 05, 2010 4:27 pm

Im just in the process of putting everything back together on the car and Im having issues with fitting the alternator due to what seems to be the wrong model waterpump being used... The new water pump has a little neck sticking out preventing the alt bracket being mounted (see pic below). My question is can i get away with just angle grinding it off? Anyone know if there are any differences internally with the pump used?

Externally there doesnt seem to be any differences besides the neck bit, just need a 2nd opinion before I do anything, if i can get away with chopping it id rather do that then have to replace the thing...

Thanks again,

Ahuh, my car is a 1.8, I think I have retained the 1.6 alt bracket then as the prev owner did the 1.6-->1.8 conversion.

Chop it I will. Thanks for the reply.
