Hi,
There is an annoying exhaust rattle that can be heard when the motor is revved slightly offidle, I jacked the car up earlier and noticed that a section of the exhaust is touching the body of the car.
After some further examination my brother spotted a possible issue with the engine mount on the exhaust side, i took some pics showing the mount and the exhaust to see if indeed the engine mount is mounted incorrectly.
Any responses appreciated.

the pics are not clear to me. Whilst I have not removed eng mounts from the MX5 these components are normally fool proof ie one way only. Probably best is go to an exhaust place and get them to take a look and rectify as required. Mounts can wear but usually because of old age or oil on the rubber- common on older cars which often leaked oil.

the mounts are supposed to be one piece. this is what they should look like:

some of the guys on here have replaced worn mounts with the equivalent mazdaspeed part - they are actually cheaper than the standard part.

The two main problems with 5s are;
-Spark plug leads
-Exhaust heat shields
The shields become loose and rattle on acceleration. People have used hose clamps, or welded them on.

i wish it was an exhaust heat shield though its the first exhaust bracket after the headers touching the body
its touching because the engine mount needs to be put in place (see above pics) and checked out mates car, though cant do this as the engine cannot be lifted up enough to do this (exhaust hitting body) now have to wait a whole week and take to mechanic on weekend.
Anyways thanks for above suggestions
