Thought this might be of interest to you guys
My engine was set to 5deg advanced on both cams when first built, but we have since tried a few other settings, this is pretty much the result
Both 0deg Advanced= Very Smooth Idle - Good power off the line, gets breathless above 5krpm - revs about the same or slightly less than a stocker
Both 5deg Advanced = 13b Style idle but ok above 1krpm - gutless under 4krpm,big power spike at 4krpm and still making more and more power as it hits the limiter @ 7200.
Both 3deg advanced = still rough idle, but ok if revs kept up a little - grunty from 2k rpm, power feels like it drops off just at the redline
So it seems 3deg is a good spot for now, i guess we might end up running more when the rev limiter is higher as 5deg did seem like it would make more power past the limiter

mine are the tighe 935. they are currently set at 0 for max top end hp for the dyno queen.
I havent had a chance to muck about with cam settings. but mine are different duration than yours so i really need to do some homework first.
mine currently has ordenary idle when hot. Below 4 is probably on par with a stock NA8
from 5k onwards she starts to sing & recite poetry. Even the enginge noise becomes less (disregarding the exhaust of course) She still pulls along at 7k maxed out at 7.7k rpm

part of my idle issues are really tuning issues with the ecu. But I'm confident I'll get there eventually.

Some torque curves from a dyno would be nice.
Or if you'd like to try real-world tests, I'd be happy to meet up with you somewhere (between Wollongong and Canberra!) and you could use my PerformanceBox for datalogging. Graphs of longitudinal acceleration vs speed from 3rd gear runs would be "equivalent" to dyno torque curves, and you should be able to see differences between timing settings. All we'd need is a quiet backroad with a 100km/hr speed limit.

Yeah, when the ECU is installed and tuned we will have a good old fiddle with the cams.
But yeah, that sounds like fun, perhaps at goulburn one weekend? that looks about half way!

In an earlier post re these cams it was advised that they are set at the standard setting and that cam wheels were not needed;ie were of no benefit.
With the piggyback ECU and standard settings on my car it idles almost like a stocky, pulls really well down low and has two noticable "progression" points at around 3800rpm and then again at 5800rpm and it will spin readily to 8000rpm(limiter disabled) although 7500 is a more realistic limit.
I think if you get an ECU , from my experience you should revert to standard cam settings and tune from there.
I am really happy with these cams and hope they do the job for you!

without ECU tune (standard ECU, no remapping or anything)

I got a 20 RWKW boost from the cams and the ECU, but unfortunately cannot give you a breakdown beyond that as they were done together.
I think someone on here said they picked up around 8 RWKW with the cams and the standard ECU but wouldn't swear to that as it was a fair time ago.

trying to set cam timing without an ECU to adjust fuel and spark will not give a proper indication of what the effects of cam timing are.
