Anyone handy with a multimeter and an NA6?

Postby mxed » Mon Oct 26, 2009 5:51 pm

I really need something checked by someone with a multimeter on a working NA6 ignition coil pack.

The coil pack connection has a 3 pin connector (the coil side of the connector I will be talking about)

In Rods Workshop manual it specifies that the resistance between the right pin and the left pin - and - the right pin and the middle pin should be around .7 to .9 ohms.
I am getting a reading of 1.8 on both measurements and currently have a car that pings a bit when hot.

Thinking I had the problem sorted I went to the wrecker and tested one there but the measurements were the same. Now I don't know if they were both bad or if they are both fine and the coil pack is not the problem.

So if anyone is able to check their measurements and let me know by PM that would be spanking.

thanks all

I have that workshop manual too. I tested mine the other day but my multimeter wasn't ideal. The lowest resistance range on it is 200 ohms which is a bit dodgy for measuring anything less than 1 ohm. What range were you using?

As for the pinging, have you checked your timing? Stock is 10 degrees, anything more than 14 degrees and you should probably be using 95 or 98 RON fuel.
