Hi all,
Have just fitted a sandwich plate to my NB. Decided as you do to start the engine to see if any leaks. After a minute or so a leak started but I cannot see (feel) where it is coming from. Has anyone had a similar problem? Is there a fix. Any suggestions welcome.

Sandwich Plate
How did you install it?
Did you use teflon tape?
Block up the remaining holes in the sandwich plate?
Tighten the sh*t out of the oil filter adaptor?
If you answer no to any of these, it will most likely be the problem.

Thanks for that. The only thing I didn't do is use teflon tape. All the other 3 non used holes in the plate were blocked with the supplied bolts. I tightened the crap out of the bolt that holds the plate in place plus the filter when I fitted that. Bugger of a place to put the filter. So it is back to rip it out today and fix the sucker.

ahk, i used teflon tape on all the bolts going into the sandwich plate (sensors included). The only thing i didn't teflon was the thread on the block.
Let us know how it goes.

Is it new or second hand?
I had a second handy one once and the rubber o-ring seal between the sandwich plate and block was old and hard. Looked ok but leaked until I could get a fresh new one in.
Temporary fix was to fit a rubber seal from an oil filter (was same diameter) which does work if you're in a jam, but apparently that's not what you're meant to use since the groove in the plate isn't square.

Hi All,
Well tried again with no luck. Still leaked even after putting teflon tape on the thread that holds the plate on. Have also used teflon tape on the sensor plus the other bolt holes. Upon looking at the plate I think I will need a washer (fibre) between the plate and the bolt attachment that holds fast to the block. I am not sure if the leak is coming from where the rubber seal is or elsewhere. I might try some gasket goo there. I will try everything until I fix this sucker. And yes I did tighten the sh*t out of everything I could. Maybe 3rd time lucky
