There are sound regulations at all race tracks and it actually says in the rules that you have to have a muffler...
NC Roadie, NC Racey, ND Racey….and a 30AE

whats the go with the ecu handeling all this change in how stuff works? how can we reset/learn mode the ecu?
for example, with skylines, for a lightly modded car (exhaust, pod, boost) you would simply reset the ecu so it can adjust to the changes (disconnect the batttery + terminal over night usually does the trick)

makes no difference in the NA6....THE OEM ECU does not have a learning mode IIRC.
I recently put a exhaust & enlarged intake on the NA6. I did have some issues at around 3800 rpm. But I suspect it was because My ECU had been changed with a 4.19mhz crystal to increase RPM & AFR at high RPM. The AFM spring had been tightened. Which was great for the stock standard set up but it struggled with the new set up. In my case I'm sure I could have retuned it back to stock. but the adaptronic went in with the big cams.
I reckon as long as your AFM & ECU are stock and you are only changing the headers , exhaust & enlarged CAI with a Muffler you should be fine.
If you then start installing more aggressive cams you may have to go with some extra help with the ECU.
I tried the disconnecting & resetting of the ecu thing with no change.

yer cams are understandable... would something like an Apexi SAFC/Greddy e-manage be benificial when changing exhaust?
I'm guessing the $350 odd dolars + $500 tune would be better spent else where
kinda off topic, but i remember reading somewhere about headers... was it the na8 or nb8a headers that were considerably poor compared to the others? also which brand is a good replacement these days?

as long as you don't muck with the ECU & AFM like I did, you should be fine.

From my experience with a few exausts onthe dyno NA6 and NA8A standard manifolds are pretty ordinary but NB8A's on are good.
However after few of years in comparison at dynos days it seems that standard NA6A's make more of claimed factory output than NA8A's.
I have an NA8A with cams, exhaust ,CAI etc and I found that Xforce headers, 4into 2 into 1 are better than tha more expensive Racing Beat 4 into 1's especially down low.
Peter.

Thanks Peter for that. Might spend that manifold $$ on a seat!

I ran a 2.25 pipe from the extractors staight into a npower rear muffler (no cat).
It was a little bit raspy at low RPM, but sounded SOOOO sweet above 3000rpm. It felt like the engine revved a little quicker, and probably made a bit more power without the cat.

Don't quote me but I'm pretty sure na and nb exhausts aren't interchangeable.

if its just the hangers that dont line up i can fab up my own, but im guessing due to the extra bracing on the rear subframe the nb rear muffler may take another route?

Not just hangers. The flange from headers to mid pipe is in a different place. Not interchangeable at all AFAIK.

And the flage on the rear muffler is in a different place.
NB8A and NB8B exhausts are different too, the cat is in a different location.
