removing AFM on NB

Hello all I was wondering what would need to be done to be able to remove the AFM on my 98 nb. I have a piggy back computer (xede) which i would think would be able to handle it. Would I need another sensor of sorts? I would like to get rid of it for flow reasons mainly. Has anyone done this and if so how has driveability been effected if at all? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

You would need to use a MAP sensor instead, which will require after market ECU. The std afm causes three parts of f-all restriction, so unless you have a much better excuse for needing an after market ECU, save your dollars.

So, does the NB8A MAF flow any better than the NA8 one? The NA8 one looks restrictive - it seems way smaller in area than the throttle body.

I'm fairly certain that the NA8 and NB ones are the same.

They are.
Inside the NA8 is a single column with a hole/cylinder in the centre that houses the wire-air temperature sensor.
Inside the NB's, they have a grid and I'm not sure where the temperature sensor is in there, but probably in the middle as well.

the NB temp sensor it attached to the airbox itself
