Worth replacing the thermostat, and I'd have a close look at the alternator and regulator and also the starter motor...

Might as well do the fuel filter too.

how many k's is on the donour engine & what does it have on it?

if it still has it's timing belts/& other belts on & they aren't near the due replacement date then i'd be inclined to leave them on which would save you a timing belt change & few other parts that go with it. otherwise could re-use the belts from the retiring engine if they have enough kilometres in them to last till the next engine change. just don't twist/bend the belts.

& make sure to be particularly careful with the heater hoses going into the heatercore.

Rubber blanking plug on back of engine, I'd tap it and use a hex plug while the engine is out.

If the engine you are intending to replace for a a short period ( how many KM's are you doing) is in reasonable condition I would be doing just the minimum. The planned maintenance thing- ie replacing parts that are ok can get out of control- refer Supermazda's comments. Clutch is of course probably essential. I would leave the bolt on "accessories" alone. But its your money.

Check the 2 thin coolant hoses that run from the back of the engine towards the front via underneath the inlet manifold. If they look ok leave them, but if you feel the need, then this is the best time to get to them.

Even though the donor engine has low km's, if it has been sitting unused for a lengthy period, then perhaps add the water-pump to the list as the seals perish due to lack of use.

Don't forget the little rubber nipple on the back of the block on the driver's side! Only a 40c part and if you got the engine out, so much more easier to replace!!!

List looks pretty good to me. If I get off my lazy ass I'd get my site up so you can see what I did when rebuilding my engine - to see if you missed anything.

Sounds pretty well-covered to me though.
