B6 in an NA8. Can it be done?

Postby d-mag » Tue Aug 19, 2008 9:07 pm

I tried looking, but couldn't find (using the search function) anyone else that would ask such an odd question.

Don't ask my why, but, how hard is it to transplant a B6 into an NA8?

Appreciate any help. :)

Probably not that hard. but not legal if the B6 engine is older than the NA8

Actually, I remember you telling me that now (but I had forgotten  ). I dare say that it will be older. is there any way around that?

I'm sure there's a way to do it legally, it's the same chassis and the B6 usually has less power.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

You could use a nb6 engine, except they are a bit more expensive...

If the engine can pass the relevant emissions test then you could register it.

The idea of a later model engine is that you can be sure it has as good, or better emissions tests.

Thanks for the info lads, I think I'll stick to an NA6 chassis. It saves the hassle.

Thanks again.

He already has the engine; he doesn't have a car to put it in yet.

Engine was too good to pass up....

...so were the seats, tyres, braces and number plate frames. But, I reckon I've shown restraint by not buying the Sportmax's and the KG dash. :P
