i am quite happy, another friend who came over said though if the contact is touching too much though it will run rich, is this true?

nope, that is completely false.

that contact is for the fuel pump , either on / off. it has NOTHING to do with fuel mixtures. the fuel mixtures are controlled by the wiper arm that slides across the big semi-circular pad.

ah ok, when the car is idling, how far along the semi circle should it be reading?

dunno. not very far along i'd imagine. should be outputting something like 4 - 4.5v . you could check it with a multimeter but what are you trying to accomplish by doing this? just checking itw all working properly again?

yeah pretty much, unfortunately i am way too observant with this kind of stuff and try to find little problems, is there anything wrong with the fuel running rich though? not thats it is or not.

bad fuel economy, less power, it'll foul your spark plugs...

so unless you notice any of these issues, don't worry about it. i'm sure you'll be fine.
