Can i replace the leather gear boot with a Metal Plate?

Postby Dweezle » Sun Apr 27, 2008 6:46 pm

Just wondering if anyone has done something like this or is not really workable?
I think it would look great in my Roadster :P

Also i wasn't sure if it belonged in \"Paint and Trim\", so sorry if i'm posting in the wrong section.

There used to be one on the market a few years ago in the US and A. Not sure if it still exists. You need to replace the shifter shaft as well because of the width, and your shift action will be slower too.

So long as it's made for the MX5, I can't see why not?

But as Matty said, I think it will be slower shifting compared to the standard set-up.

As Sasso said; the design will make a difference to the shift... The picture of the one for the MX5 looks like it would slow shift less than the first pic.

Sasso - I did; just checked my inbox and it's there... Sorry I missed it. It look slike it was chopped before you finished though.

I'll shoot you a reply. :D
