Hi Guys,
Hoping someone can tell me, how much work is involved in having the lifters replaced? How much is a standard set? As I have no idea...
Cheers
Brad

There is also a large number of 3rd party manufacturer hydraluic lifters available for our car now.
Try the likes of Repco or a specific auto parts store (not an accessories store like Supercheap/Autobarn, etc).
You can even get them on eBay from the US.

Signs of what - you haven't given us any symptoms? I've only ever replaced one HLA because it wouldn't pump up in the 5 or so MX5 engines I've had - not really a sign of anything - just a dud lifter. If it's an NB with solids, the valve clearances need to reset every 100k klms or so and yes, it's normal to have to adjust them with different sized shims.

Thanks CT - I should Have clarified myself, I am little weary on if these things are an early warning on something else... as the motor's history is unknown as it is a second hand... recently installed...
I am not really mechanically minded, so should I do anything while I get the mechanic doing the work?? Other than performance mods...

What Year model do you Have?????
The pre 98 had HLA the post 98 had Solids.
If you have a Post 98 then you might need to have the clearances checked and Adjusted.
If you have a Pre 98 then change the oil to a ful synthetic oil like penrite SIN 10. this stop the Lifter noise on my 265000Km NA8 Clubman.
