I'm running a t25 and it is awesome. 9PSI by 3000rpm and full boost all the way to redline. 8)

Can't offer opinions on the others.

Unfortunately it's not just as simple as which is best. You need to look at the trims and sizes before making a decision.
I've seen T2 flanged turbos make 550 HP yet T3 flanged make 300 HP.

Firstly I would suggest a dual ball bearing core for fastest spool and least lag.
Then decide on two things, the manifold you want to use and the HP that you want to achieve.
Then look at the maps for the short listed turbos.

TD05-16G is quite a big turbo, despite it's small size. What i mean is it's not going to be super responsive, it should give good peak power though.
When results speak for themselves - don't interrupt.

16g is from evos - i would steer clear of it for a 1.6. i works well on a very good flowing 2l so a 1.6 might not be so great.

that last one would be off of a silvia T25 descent size (too small for my likeing though!!) I may be off of a skyline GTR also so check the numbers properly cause if it is then its wayyy too small.

PS someone on the forum (spikey i belive??) is running the TD05 on a 1.6 with great results, spool and power.

what wheel size is it though - 14 or 16.

Not sure, it could be a custome one, as it's from the good trust turbo kit. But i'd say it would be closer to a -16, the -14's have a history of cracking their rear housings.

You shouldnt have any troubles with the TD05, just get a good tuner to tune it. Since its big you'll be able to run more timing advance which will bring it onto boost earlier, plus the fact that TD series turbos run ligter bearings and shafts to make up for the non ball bearing cores - brings it onto boost early.

T25 is too small, T28 is better :D

The smilly came up cause an 8 next to a ) gives you 8)

depends if it was the intercooled or non intercooled motor. the intercooled version would be bigger but not sure how much hp it could flow

Pretty much have to go custom with anything you choose for the MX5, anything off the shelf will only suit its corresponding turbo kit and either way it'll be too smally or badly designed.

Get a split (or twin whatever you want to call it) dump pipe - one that joins the wastegate part as far away down the dump as possible and go at least 2.5 inch.
I've got a 3inch dump which turns into a 2.5 inch as it gets down to the horizontal section underneath the car (thats with a high mount turbo).
The main restriction i could find was my 'metal' cat, i found that by looking at the discolouration of the stainless steel along the exhaust - the front half of the cat was turning gold/purple/blue first.

We did some testing on a mates Lancer GSR and measured the exhaust temperatures with an infrared pyrometer, it was fascinating how quickly the temperature dropped along a straight section of pipe (100 degrees over about a meter), then came back up again for the bend over the diff.
