On vehicle standards, the AVO stage 1 kit for the 1600 is emissions compliant, if you purchase the kit new from them they will supply you with the certification required to get the vehichle standards crew off your back.

To remain compliant though you need to have it installedexactly as intended by AVO, 5th injector etc included.
When results speak for themselves - don't interrupt.

Boags - I was searching the AVO website which came up with no results. I would of thought they would want to showcase their products :?

I think they rely quite heavily on resellers as they only have the one factory/shop in Aus, and it is something that you need to have a specialist shop you can visit to install/service/repair the kit when needed.

Go on, you know you want to!

Sadly I dont get to drive mine very much at all any more, its been my weekend car for ages, only put 14K's on it over the last 5 years..
I just bought a new daily, sportivo corolla, I love driving that thing.. but on the weekend I got my mx out and whoooarr i forgot what i was missing!!!

I've got the AVO stage 1 -\"mechanicals kit\" ie same as low miata, but with all the extras that i sourced myself too its similar to their stage 2 and 3..such a bigger inj ,fuel pump,ecu..etc

Its just got so much balls compared to stock..understandably, you can just here the turbo spooling it sounds and feels like the car is just really getting sucked along by the thing..
I get pretty average ks out of a tank prob no more than 360kms.
I've also got the avo emissions certification papers for my car that they sent me, but i understand they will only give to to people that buy their kits 1st hand as they detailed my cars ID numbers all over the papers.

I am in the process of trying to get pre-approval of the stage 1 kit here in SA, so no testing is required. I have found that just because you can provide papers, doesn't mean it will be automatically excepted and approved.

I have no doubt that the testing results DO show the stage 1 kit is compliant with ADR's, AVO have been great with providing info and I comend them for that highly...however the vehicle standards dept of Transport SA seem to be a hard nut to crack, they want to see i's dotted and t's crossed.

I spent ages here in Adelaide ringing around and talking to other guys with turbo mxs in adelaide about getting them legalised.. SA is a very hard nut to crack.. even after speaking to engineers, the whole process is bullsh*te here (even ask RandyMx5 on these forums) possibly costing $1000's and 1000s

I bought the AVO kit with at least the hope of getting mine road legal here in SA, even such that I ve even upgraded the diff and brakes etc etc.. but it costs so much here .. I havent been bothered yet..

Ive had mine on for almost a year and half now with no problems, and randys had his for like 9 years.. Just have to be sensible in how , when and where you drive it, and not have it looking to outlandish... the mx isnt your average cop magnet like the silvias etc yet..

That being said you could have a chat to MRE-Miatasport in thebarton thats who i got my AVO kit through and did my tuning for me see if they've got any updated info.

Keep us informed on how you go!

L.

and When you get it.. yes when :D .. if you need a hand with the install let us know!
