Worn throwout bearing. Sometimes called a clutch release bearing. Works like this. Normally part of a clutch kit.

Here, here. Also known as a thrust bearing. Best to replace the clutch while you've got it all apart.

Don't forget to replace the spigot bearing as well while its all apart.
