In reality, unless you are chasing ridiculous power (and usually a bit of extra lag) sticking with basic upgrades is where you'll find the most benefits.

I think Boyracer is right on teh money with his suggestions, even teh FM turbo upgrade is pretty straight forward keeping all teh factory manifolds and piping - It doesn't get much sweeter than that for a daily driver.
When results speak for themselves - don't interrupt.
