changing trans fluid

I was going to change the trans fluid today but when i jacked the car up it looked like there were two filler holes and I couldn't get my hand anywhere near close to getting it past the exhaust, any suggestions?BTW its an na6

Thats the guide i was going off, I found the drain plug, then on the exhaust side there was a large plug with two wires coming out of it so i take that wasn't it and a little further back there were two more right next to each other, the way the photo is angled in the guide maybe i was looking too high up, is it more on the side of the gearbox?

Found a photo of a full gearbox, so I know where it is now.

The plug with the wires is your reverse light sensor, DO NOT UNSCREW THAT ONE!

Not sure what he difference is on an NA, but when i did the transmission fluid last week on my NB, there was a drain plug on the bottom and a square ended fill plug further up, on the LHS towards to bell housing.

However, getting the bungs out is the easy bit, getting the oil in is a little harder if you dont have a pump...

(note, after getting oil in my hair, eyes, jumper and everywhere else, i will definatly reccomend sourcing a hand help oil pump prior to attempting to fill the gearbox!)

Or......get a shortish (around 1.2m) length of 12mm garden hose, plug one end into the gearbox fill hole and snake the other end through the suspension arms and out through the front wheel arch. Get a smallish funnel and bung it on the end of the hose and just poor the oil in. Quick, simple and fairly mess free.

Done the hose and funnel thing myself a few times and it's a bit of a pain especially when the tranny gets full you've generally got a fair bit left in the pipe. It takes a long time two....

I was up at MX5 plus talking to Jamie (mechanic) and was all excited about his new GROZ oil pump. It's a large syringe with a short piece of clear tube attached to the pointy bit and he reckons it's the duck's guts for doing MX5 gearboxes & diffs. I promptly trotted off to Stuporsheep (supercheap) and picked one up for about $25 on special. It's in an orange box!

I'll try it out this weekend and report back...
