after thinking it may have been from a diff, then thinking it was the driveshafts, had a visit to the cv/driveshaft centre & had them check out things. turns out it not & the diff seems to be fine.
his opinion is it's most likely the wheelhubs or possibly the suspension (i happen to have new shocks & replacement springs waiting to be put on).
so how much are new wheel hubs for the 1.6? & reconditioned?
or should i get the one emu is selling
\"pair case hardened rear axles hubs&brakes$90\"
squeaky rear - wheel hubs?

oh, another question, better to have the shocks/springs put on when the hubs get done as well? less labour & hours so less costly?
cause the mechanic that the driveshaft place recommended for getting hubs done at is also next door to a well respected suspension place... might complicate things a bit.

What can squeak in a wheel hub? Doesn't it just have a bearing pressed onto it, with some wheel studs and some places to bolt on the control arms? I guess if the splines are worn they could squeak but they'd be more likely to clunk I would have thought. Have you checked out all the suspension bushes?

ok, had it checked out by another mechanic more thoroughly. it is the bushings
no huge undue wear but they liked being greased up & now it's much better. problem solvered.
had the rear shocks & springs done too with it yesterday, fronts will be done on mondays since had to order a pair of dust cover boots from interstate & then a 4 wheel alignment.
