Did an oil change a few thousand km ago so won't be installed for a month or two.

Going to make servicing A LOT easier and cleaner though.

Apparently you can get a noticeable "gurgle" noise vibrate through the firewall to the cabin.

Miata.net thread wrote:I've had a Thompson Kit as long as just about anyone (not difficult, considering I was among the "beta" testers). I used to punch a hole in the filter but I stopped doing that once Tom explained that slightly loosening the oil filter for a few minutes is all that's needed. Loosen it just to the point that you break the vacuum seal and then tighten it back just a tiny bit to prevent oil from seeping out from under the filter o-ring. I do that as the first step and let it stay that way while I'm under the car draining the oil. By the time I've put the drain plug back in, the filter can be completely removed with very minimal additional drainage (all of which is caught in the Thompson base catch reservoir anyway). After that I soak up the little bit of remaining oil in the base with a few paper towels, put on the new filter and dump 4 quarts into the crankcase. DONE!
