Finally got rid of my rattle!

Postby Bevan » Wed May 10, 2006 5:46 pm

And no, it doesn't mean i've finally stopped being a baby at 24.

There has ben a rattle for months. At BigDogs dodgy day neither Garry or I could find it. It used to be on acceleration or deceleration and in the last 2 weeks it has moved from either of those to just rattle at idle. Finally pulled my finger out on Sunday and chucked it on jack stands. Very obvious from first smack on the exhaust. The heat shield that's actually welded to the to of the CAT and pretty much fallen off. There are 6 weld spots and 5 had totally come lose.

So I just levered the last one off and hey presto, no more rattles. :D Bit dissapointed though. Thought the SP Motorsports exhaust should be able to hold it's tac welds together.

I'll see how it is in Summer and see if there's much more heat coming into the cabin.

Anyway, here is the pic. Five came off with the top right one being the only one to hold on...

I absolutely love it! :D Gives a definite noticable increase in power and sounds awesome. Nice and sporty with no drone at all. I have the full system minus the headers. It also has a resonator(sp?) in the midpipe which I understand makes a big difference. 8)

Yes, you should. :) Once you compare the mandrel bent goodness to the 1.75" (or is it 1.5"?) crushed pipe piece of crap, you'll never look back. 8)

For you, it would be Full System for $1240.00.

For Andrew, it would be $690 for hi flow cat and midpipe.

Here is a breakdown from the Mania site:
Full System $1240.00
Cat Back $840.00
Rear Muffler $590.00
High Flow Cat Section $440.00
Mid Pipe $250.00

Enjoy. :)
