NB8B plug in battery well?

Hello talented MX5ers,

What do people do with this plug in the battery area if its perished like mine?

I'm thinking ill just leave it out otherwise its gonna fall out anyways :?

Any one else have this missing and if so does water go in if driving in the rain or too far from the wheels to matter?
