I’m looking to get my NC steering wheel retrimmed in Alcantara. Can anyone recommend a trimmer ideally in Brisbane but happy to post?

If you want it done well, then go to Leather FX < http://leatherfx.com.au > but expect to wait a little while for it to be done. If you want cheap and quick look elsewhere.

I would not do it. Alcantara wheels are only meant to be used with driving gloves (ideal for race cars). If you just use your bare hands it will eventually look rubbish (all flat and shiny) and you will need to get them recovered again.
I know a lot of manufacturers have started using it on their street cars, but you don't see them later.

Nothing wrong with Alcantara as long as you're aware it's higher maintenance and shorter life than leather.

While on the subject of trimmers, if anyone can recommend one in Sydney I'd be interested. Have an old steering wheel I'd like to have retrimmed and do a shift and handbrake boot to match at the same time.

Your spot on, that’s exactly why I want it. The car is really only going to be used to drive to and participate in Sprints and Hillclimbs and I want the grip you get when using gloves.

A retrim will probably be dear. I did see some nice new SAAS fake alcantara wheels at Autobarn for OK prices.

the grip is easy - wear gloves - cheap and effective.

Just been quoted $500+gst for suede or alcantara. Does that sound about right? Apparently its a one day job.

That’s way too much. I have an option that was about $220 but u need to ship the wheel to Adelaide. Very good results by the photos of other retrims. Alcantara may be a bit more but I’ll try hunt down the details if I can find the old email I had.

Include a note with your wheel describing what you want done, colour, smooth stitch, etc.

All instructions must be with the wheel to avoid mixups.

Drew is not the quickest, but that's because of too much work already waiting and quality and care on each job not a rush to get to the next. Also not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for in my opinion. I've had two wheels previously done, one a very complicated intricate OEM Momo wheel for another brand of vehicles and one a Land Rover Discovery wheel. Both came out as per original.
