Nc rear number plate mounting?

Just got an NC, and the rear number plate holes don't match up with the car, so previous owner screwed in some wood screw at a silly angle... I have had to tap the car holes to fix the damaged threads.
What is the standard way to mount the number plate?

The photo (if it works) shows how the holes (I have some screws in the holes in the photo) in the body don't match the holes in the number plate.

Thanks

The NC number plate holes do not comply with ADRs or standard Oz plate hole templates. Automotive Plus may still have adaptors that work.

What is the adaptor made from? And can you remember how much it cost?

What seems odd is that Mazda must have sold a few 1000 NCs, so there must have been some other easy method to mount the plate. I guess the easiest method is to drill another set of holes in the plate, but I don't like the idea of having more holes in it than it already has.

It is alloy and the ones (front and rear) on my car are MX-5 Plus prototypes. They came with all the fittings. I don't know if they are still available through Automotive Plus http://www.automotiveplus.com.au/.

Mazda don't give a toss. Your choices are:
1. Drill new holes in the car;
2. Drill new holes in the plates; or
3. Fit adaptors to the existing mounting points on the car.

When our car was new, the dealer ruined my personalised plates by drilling holes in them, in the wrong places, and even then, mounted the rear plate off centre. :evil: :roll: It made the "driving the new car out of the showroom" experience rather disappointing. They paid for a new set of plates.

SS11 has the easy solution- cost nothing. Plenty of cars have holes drilled in plates in non standard position (including my NB) and surely its simply to just lined up with the holes on the car panel. If you are really anal about holes in the number plate put a grommet in them- besides a few extra holes makes the plate lighter!
