nb8a,new key needed in newcastle

have been quoted $130 at a mister minit,is this the going price or has anyone got any other ideas/experience?

Ring around qualified locksmiths. They also vary greatly in price.

If you've got the two original keys, the following might be an option:
http://www.msprotege.com/forum/archive/ ... 71178.htmlAlso, if you've got one of the original keys with the transponder in, tape it near the ignition barrel, & use a key cut from a normal blank to operate the ignition. Believe this works as it's proximity based.

just realised that I may only need a metal key without transponder,doh!
I have a megasquirt mspnp2 ecu.does anyone know if immobiliser is before or after ecu power? (gotta find wiring schematic I think)

If you don't need a transponder a local locksmith cut a test key for me on a plain blank for free when I had my royal clover key cut.
Having the royal clover key cut cost $10-$20 off the top of my head.
So for very little money I had my blank cut and a blank supplied and cut by the locksmith.

You can buy transponder keys online and get it cut by a locksmith (use a locksmith, not a Mr Minit deal).
There are a serious of tasks you can do to program a new key by opening and closing the doors, and turning on the ignition.
Unfortunately, I think you might need two keys to start with :-(
