ND Interior Squeaks and Rattles are annoying

I've had my ND for two months now, and I'm close to tearing my hair apart from the various squeaks, clicks and rattles from various panels in the car. I've sent it back to the dealer twice so far so help sort it out, but nothing seems to have helped. They've come back each time with "put some foam padding in the door trims", but the noise remains.

Here's the three distinct noises I have.

1. With the roof down, and driving on the motorway, there's a sound that sounds very similar to hard plastic being pressed down upon. If I put my hand and press down on the folded roof behind me, the noise goes away.

2. The right side door panel (drivers side) has this "clicking" noise. If I put my hand on the door panel when driving, it stops. This noise is intermittent - I've gone for a week without hearing it, and then it comes back again. This noise remains even if the window is up or down.

3. The left side door panel (passenger side) has a similar clicking noise, but its a lot louder and more prominent. This is the most recent development (dealer also looked for this), and again, stops when someone presses against the door panel. If I roll the passenger window down ever so slightly, the noise stops.

The biggest problem with these noises is that they are all inconsistent. They show up one day, and then go away again - which makes it hard for me to "prove" to the dealer that something is not right.

Anyone else with an ND having similar issues?

Try contacting Mazda.

A friend had a Mazda 3 with squeaky trim and after the dealer tried 3 times to fix he went to Mazda directly and they sent a tech out with a replacement car for a whole day and sorted it.

His was behind the dash .

It's a convertible car, which means there is no permanent roof. Thus you will get a little extra body noise. You might have to get used to it.

Thanks for providing the only constructive feedback here.

Owned my ND for about and I have a similar issue from the drive side corner. Not sure if it's coming from the dash or side pillar. Noise occurs when driving at about 2,500rpm to 4,000rpm. Will get the dealer to have a look at it again.

guys- no one is going to be able to diagnose the rattles and noises from these descriptions. A dealer does not have a Check listing detailing the description of the noise and its fix. Noises are fixed by removing a trim etc and maybe adding some foam or tape etc. Components in doors were often wrapped with a bit of foam tape- unscientific but it can work. In the old days we would have said its meant to be like that but fair enough cars have improved markedly.

Who else do you think is going to fix it? Dealer and warranty of course. If you cannot accept suggestions, well .....

Yeah, list is USDM-centric & list may also not be complete. From memory Rosenthal Arlington Mazda used to have the full list on their website, but as they have recently permanently closed the Miata.net list was as good as it got from a quick look: https://www.arlingtonmazda.com/index.html
