Replicating a rare Moto-Lita Gear Knob

I have recently started a resto project on my other car (1973 BMW 2002Tii). As part of this restoration, I decided to replicate some of the rare items I collected for my NA in the past few years to retro fit on 2002.

I am currently working on replicating a Moto-Lita gear knob in polished copper with custom Ralley Monte Carlo badge (photo is for reference only):

As you might know, its cheaper to make 10 knobs but I am having one made regardless. Price will be calculated based on interests as usual.

So let me know if you are interested as we might be able to arrange some sort of group order with admin's permission. The thread will be suitable to NA. (this is for the gear knob only. You can source your own desired badge online).

Please contact me If you have a fabrication business or CNC shop in Sydney and interested in this job & other similar projects.

I have to, despite sinking waaayyyy too much money into the 5 as of late.
Wouldn't be right to let my moto-lita wheel go lonely.

So, depending on the cost not being outrageous I'd be in.

I am doubtful if the finish is polished copper.

I think you're right, looks like Alu or SS.
However, I think Driv3r meant that he is recreating it in a copper finish? I think that would look very cool.

How so? The current original is in copper plated aluminium and is as shiny as it gets. I am replicating it with pure copper and once its done in cnc machine, we will have it polished and maybe e-coated in clear for long lasting shine. It might not be the authentic hand made 1970s knob but it would look 10 times better.

Just an update for those who contacted me via PM and commented here:

I visited Richard's workshop last week. Richard has state of the art facility muscled with all advance and high tech equipment and must I mention, what a genuine enthusiast and great bloke.

I left the original Moto-Lita sample with Richard and he will work out the cost and get back to us. For those of you interested in polished aluminium version of Moto-Lita gear knob, here is a sample. Keep in mind it will all be aluminium without the mahogany wood:

The 2002 lapel pin is not included! :D

Here is a sample hard enamel badge I had made in copper plated base, for the 2002 that went to Rallye Monte Carlo in 1973. You can have your own custom badge made:

Please contact me or add your name here if you're interested.

Cheers

Guys we're almost there! 7 people so far. Anyone else interested in these rare gear knobs?

We are making these in polished copper but you can chose to keep it aluminium.

This group order wont happen again so put your name down.

Er, don't wanna rain on your parade but the photo is of a knob with wooden body and some pretty fancy engraved text.

I would love one if it was exactly the same.
