Anyone got Cobra Classic CS seats?

Hi Everyone,
As im doing a retro NA build that will see light track work i thought these could be a great seat, I dont need FIA seats in anything i want to do at this stage and could buy a second hand Sprint cheaply if needed down the track.
I was wondering if anyone here had these fitted or just your thoughts are on them? how did you or would you mount them? do you sit higher in them? (mixed opinions online about seating position)
for those unfamiliar with them this is the one (i believe they are available with black piping not just white as shown)
http://www.revolutionracegear.com.au/?P ... imary&CDO= I know they physically fit as there is a few fitted in the UK/US and some good pics can be seen here for reference further down in tan and black.
http://clubroadster.net/vb_forum/21-int ... seats.html .
They come in different styles but i would want headrests and side harness holes (for safety and harness use) but if you look at how far back the side bolsters are i think they would be one of the easier fixed backs to get in and out of as i plan to leave them in for all duties, the car isn't a daily but road registered.
anyway i look forward to hearing from someone.
Thanks Alex

They're made for a Mini! (and all the older stuff).
Dunno how the seatbelt receiver would work.

Thanks for the reply Bruce

i know they go well in minis but if you google them they are in many MX5's which probably has less room than the old mnis due to the tranny tunnel.
apparently 90-93 seat belt receivers are needed with the plastic cover off so that its just webbing strap past through the side hole. i would have to see if NA8 would work.

You've got an NA8. They've got the weird receiver, the thing is fixed in an odd location. You can't manipulate it through the Cobra hole as it's welded (not on a piece of webbing).

I had the non headrest version of these in my historic race car. I stripped the driver's seat and re-constructed it as the original is a terrible design. They are basically a 25mm mild steel hoop that forms the outline of the seat with a piece of thin plywood as the back, with foam glued to all the surfaces and then covered in vinyl. The steel tube was unpainted and was rusting despite being only a couple of years old when I bought the car. They look nice, but are not a patch on a proper race seat. I re-formed mine with sheet steel, painted it all properly before gluing the foam back in place and re-attaching the vinyl.

Thanks heaps for the replies everyone, it's been very helpful.
Looks like those seats are out of the question, I'm happy to muck around with seatbelt receivers, brackets ect but not if the quality and design is lacking a little.
Shame as I really liked the styling of them. if anyone has an idea of something that style that may be a better option please let me know.
I know some very good upholstery people that have done some top show cars. I might talk to them about having the standard seats re-done with some more bolstering added or get NB8b seats and have them trimmed to suit my theme then buy a dedicated track seat.
Thanks again everyone.

Alex, have a look into the English MX-5 seats, they look retro with the separated head-rests, and are OEM plug and play.
If you've got the cash, look at the Nakamae seats. Beautiful items.

I like the look of these seats also.. The non headrest ones sell cheaply on eBay but I never to found a cheap headrest version.
Something that looks like a fixed back version of Datsun 240z seats.
Pity the quality doesn't sound good. I'd also be interested if there was a better made equivalent

sparco did the F550 american but good luck finding that in Aus. I May end up going something similar to this one on speedhunters and use a set of mazdaspeed seats.
http://www.speedhunters.com/2013/11/wai ... rew-style/ I have seen a few sets come up cheap that need to be recovered. ideally i find a set of black leather mazdaspeeds then have the insert material taken out and something like the above post or quilted put in the middle. type F's on gumtree at the moment in fabric are $650 for the set. i think $325 per seat is reasonable

I looked into some of these for myself. The cheapest I found them for was from Mini Sport in Adelaide.
