Cutting vents / louvres in a bonnet

So... We had a go at cutting some louvres in an old bonnet I bought off Dann a couple of years back.

Pretty happy with how they turned out! Long, fiddly job but I think the bonnet will look and work well once it is painted and on the car.

We do plan on adding some small gurney flaps on the leading edges of each vented area.

Why didn't we just use Singular vents? Well in 4B we are limited to two vented areas of not more than 968cm2 - so the centre vent would have been useless anyway. I was also worried the two side vents would be too large... So I made my own. I'm also a cheap bastard, and I plan on painting the race car at some point soon... so this option appealed to me.

I put a short write-up on our Facebook page and website. Here is the link if you're interested.

Nice one zossy, great job, they look and will function great. Need to do an nb bonnet myself but successfully cutting with the degree of precision you managed is my main concern. See you at the track in the new year. Cheers.

I like the Singular NC louvres on an NA/NB, they preserve the hood hump (no centre vent that cuts into the hump) and they flow organically around it:

- probably too big for your category though.

Props for your handywork.

Any chance of posting the details here too for us guys that refuse to join the cult of Facebook?
(- as someone who's spent years working in the Defence industry, posting personal details for everyone to see goes against everything that was drummed into me
- as someone who works in the IT industry, posting personal details in the one place is pure gold in terms of data mining, profiling and identity theft
- I also don't have time to maintain a Facebook account full of "imaginary Friends").

Yep the Class 4 restrictions are a concern and the NC louvres are likely to be a bit big.
