1989 mx-5 rails and seats
Hey guys, to comply with ADR standards I need a new drivers seat. Since 1989 mx5 seats aren't readily available at the drop of a hat, I was wondering if any other model mazda seats line up with the oem mx-5 railings. Thank you!

You're welcome. Although they bolt in, Just be weary that some models are taller then others. Ie nb8c.
I've never had a nb so am unsure of the differences. Guess the question becomes how tall are you?

Ahh fantastic! Thanks a lot for the advice man. I'm pretty tall but hopefully it shouldn't be a problem!

Seats from any MX5 pre-NC will fit.
NB8B seats I found are slightly taller in the base, so reduce headroom. I'm not sure if that's design, or if it;s just that they've had less bums in them to squish teh foam over the years.
NB8A seats are about the same as NA seats height wise, and look similar.
NA8 seats will also fit.
NB seat rails have a tab on the side where the seatbelt stalk mounts, if you get NB seats with the rails attached you'll be best to remove them and instead use your NA rails (it saves having to play around with the buckes)
There are also aftermarket seats that fit, however it really depends on your state as to if they're legal or not.

Also be aware that some people find some seats uncomfortable.
Many say the NB8B seats are the pick of the bunch, but to be honest I've always hated them.
Then again, I seem to be odd with seats, since I liked my NB8A seats when I had them (most people seem to hate them) and I love my current Mazdaspeed fixed back (which I removed the original Lumbar support plate)
