Just looking to grab some advice from the wealth of experience here.
looking to install a fixed back and mount an NA6 seat belt stalk in my trans tunnel.
Question i have is should i use spreader plates on both sides or will it be fine with only 1 under the car?
Any advice is appreciated.

1 side is fine as long as it's large enough and the right material.
go to one of the race equipment shops and you can buy the correct spreader plates, and harness bolts.
They sell them for race harnesses, but they work for normal seatbelts too.
I did this in my car a few years back.

as hks said, one spreader plate on the back is all that's needed.
The point of a spreader plate is to spread the forces over a larger surface area, which effectively strengthens the mount point..
Nothing is pulling outwards on the mount point from underside, so you only need one (under the car) to stop the forces from the belts pulling it through into the car.

That's pretty much the same as what I bought, except mine was gold coloured.
I just bought a harness eyebolt with mine from the same shop. (I got mine from GMP Racing in Huntindale)

Now that is a good find. Hope someone will chime in to confirm it's the right thing. It looks right to me.

anyone used a bit of sealant under the plate to prevent water?

Nope.
But it's probably a good idea.
Should also help stop the plate rotating as you tighten the bolt from the top.

You should still use at least one pop rivet to retain it.
Cheers,

I always meant to, but never got around to it.
the bolt I used had plenty of extra thread so I just placed a High Tensile Nyloc nut on the excess thread to stop it backing out.
