Door Rattle fix??

Hi folks. Seems I'm always on here for advice. My 2000 NBa doors are rattling over bumps. I've moved the D shaped clamps (if that's what they are called?) further inward but they don't seem to move any further inward than they already are...and still doors rattle?? I'm thinking that the door rubber have shrunk over time (15yrs) I thought perhaps if I bulked out or pushed out the rubbers by placing a thin door felt behind the rubbers may do the trick by pushing the rubbers out more thereby fixing the doors harder to the body stopping the rattle but that doesn't seem to have worked? I'm sure this problem is not unique to my car so any ideas for a fix that has worked for forum members. Cheers. Simie

It could be anything.

Is it the whole door itself rattling/moving or is it a rattle sound coming from the door?

I have a rattle in the door when I turn right hard. Theres plenty inside the door cavity that can be rattling.
The big foam block, lock mechanisms, window glass, window runners, speakers or cabling etc etc

You just need to pull the door down and start looking.
I've been putting it off as im still having reoccurring nightmares dealing with the black sticky weather-seal crap last time I was in there

My rattle turned out to be an ill fitted battery in the boot..tightened up the battery bracket and no sounds at all - r u sure its your door?

Yea can't be sure if its in the door that rattles. Sounds like it. Yea saw that black gunky stuff securing the plastic cover on the door. Bit scared of that too. Probably only way to check out the interior of the door is by pulling that off. Dont think its my battery and anyway the passenger door makes a noise too. When I am resting my arm on the door when driving and hit a bigger bump I think I can feel the door shake and seemingly move. Didn't really notice noise from doors until my mate adjusted the doors to make them flush with the outside of the car. Anyway, will press on with the investigation.

Near the bottom of the door frame, below the D, is a rubber block which is designed to stop door rattles. They last about 10 years and then start breaking up. You can buy replacements from Mazda, amayama, mx5parts or rockauto.

Before you remove the door lining, check the tightness of the 3 nuts on the underside of door.

Seems the door rattle may be the battery. The bracket holding the battery is not fixed. The bolt has been snapped off AND an easy out used to get the bolt out has snapped too! Bugga. Any suggestions?

Seems that the rattle WAS the battery. Fixed the bracket by drilling another hole. Took Max (Mx5) for a fang. Rattle has gone. Thanks for all those who contributed. Cheers
