Was in a big hurry yesterday to wash my SE as usual I had run out of car wash detergent I then remember a friend that has a panel repair and re spray business that swears by Morning Fresh dish wash liquid . So I said why not give it a go . To my surprise this would have to be the best detergent I have ever washed a car with there were very few spots left on the paint and the windows are crystal clean and the water sheared strait off which means the wax is still there
Morning Fresh "seems" to be neutral PH so why not ??????

The detailing blokes will have a ball with this but if I remember correctly, it has something to do with the additives that make ones dishes 'sparkle'.

my recollection was recommendation not to use dishwashing detergents on cars.It is easy to buy in multi0ole locations from car shops to supermarkets etc- why not use the right product. I will not be making any changes.

A lot of dishwashing detergents contain salt and other aggressive additives to remove grease etc.
It's not what I would use on my car.
I had a friend some time back who always used dishwashing detergents on his car until it started to cause rust bubbles.

Back in the early '90s a mate's mum used to wash her Subaru Leone with dish washing liquid. Took the clear coat off in a few years.

Well I for one like to eat off a clean plate too

That's not bugs...THIS is bugs. 2010 roadtrip to NatMeet in Maclaren Vale after crossing the Hay Plain.
It took a few runs at it with a pressure washer to get those locusts off - car won its class in Concours a couple of days later too.

The problem with dishwashing liquid is that it strips wax off the car. Your paint now doesn't have any protection unless you waxed it again afterwards

Sorry I need proof

Morning Fresh is PH neutral same as all the $$$$$ brands it rained here last night and I can see no difference from before I used MF the water has shredded
off as it always dose so the wax must still be there .

no we don't need proof - I for one will not use wash up detergent to clean my car. I do not know the ingredients of the products and it surprises me that the contents label even mentions PH. Car wash detergent is readily available is cheap and it't fit for purpose. Whats the cost of car wash detergent in the scheme of things- trivial.

only wash it and drive it every 3 months so it should be ok

In which case, washing it with laundry detergent (let alone Morning Fresh) probably wouldn't hurt it much in 6 months
