Brompton either made the bike to fit the boot or Mazda made the boot to fit the bike  My Brompton fits into the boot of the SE with nothing to spare the tyre hold everything snug I have the best of both worlds

Gtran take a look some recent posts on bike carriers including one of the members who offered and made a prototype. I don't think apart from a folding bike or a bike perhaps that travels CKD is really very suitable for an MX5- you only have so much room.

My roadie does fit in the passenger seat, with the roof up, and both wheels in the boot.

Not my favourite thing to do, but has been done on a few occasions and is certainly possible.

My cycling days are over so there's a near new Dahon for sale if anyone's interested. Decent ride, and it also folds to fit in MX5 boot.

If only Mazda produced the suitcase car then we could put those in the boot.

If I wasn't driving I would have snapped a pic.
Spotted a bloke on a white NA, top down with a BMX in the passenger seat on Friday out front of Chermside shopping centre in Brisbane.
Made me look twice, I reckon he'd of been able to put the roof up once it was in there.
