Nose crack

Postby Zcootz » Tue Jul 01, 2014 4:38 pm

Hi,
I collected a wallaby a few days ago on the front right. Luckily the nose took the entire hit and just popped back into shape, but there is a short split on the bottom edge. It's out of view, just wondering if anyone has any experience gluing these? Not sure if araldite is up to the job? I just want to stop the crack from progressing.
With two laps to go then the action will begin, unless this is the action, which it is.

I've done cheap PU repairs before and used this "method":
- drill hole at end of crack to reduce chance of crack spreading
- use a piece of "plastic" (eg polycarbonate off a remote control car shell), Araldite it to the back and use Araldite as the filler as well. Prep the surface as recommended by Araldite of course
- sand it down after the Araldite has hardened and paint it

It should hold together sufficiently. I found Goop to be better as it is flexible and won't crack...but that's best for out-of-sight repairs.

Thanks. I like that idea, there's a fair bit of room behind the gap to laminate onto it. Cheers
