Are NA and NB seat belt clasps interchangeable?

Postby davekmoore » Mon Jun 23, 2014 2:02 am

My Sparco Sprint seat has NB rails with the triangular fitting for the seatbelt clasp but presently without the seatbelt clasp fitted. I want to be able to use the normal seatbelt with the Sparco for the few times I use that combination on the road as using the full harness is a) a pain and b) dangerous without also putting the full helmet and HANS on.

So can someone please let me know if the NA clasp (as below) will attach to the triangular fitting on the rail and if it will accept the tongue from the NB/SE seatbelt?

Or, does someone have an NB clasp for sale?

Thanks. More concerned about whether the male part fits the female part as I'd be fitting the NA female part to the triangular part of the NB rail thus enabling the clasp to be above the taller sides of the Sparco seat.

I've had nb8a and nb8c seats (thus rails/receivers) in my na8 and all buckles/clasps/tongues worked perfectly. This is the opposite of what you would be doing, but that means yours will work.
From memory the hole size is pretty big on both na stalk and nb rail, so it might actually bolt straight on haha.

NA6 seatbelt stalk bolts to transmission tunnel, but the NA8 seatbelt stalk mounts to the side of the seat.

The only issue may be that the buckle is longer than the NB and may sit too high on the seat when mounted to the seat rail.

na6 female clasp does not fit with nb8a male buckle. it will not engage. thats the extent of my knowledge but its first hand. i put nb8a seats in my na6 and had to change the seatbelt reels as well.

You sure?

I have an NA stalk and clasp in my NB, happily clips firmly into the NB seatbelts like stock.

NA6 I'm pretty sure.

Not sure what year NA6 though, I know there were a few changes to the NA6 near the end of it's run.

I thought id revive this thread.
I'm looking at buying some nb seatbelt reels to fit my 1989 na6

Will the nb male fit the na6 female socket?

The rest of the thread above is a little confusing if it will fit or not

I have an NB (a 1999 if it makes a difference)
I fitted an NA6 (1990) stalk (female)

Both the original NB belt (male) and the NA6 buckle (female) click together and work perfectly fine.

For clarification, this should be:

NA6 seatbelt stalk bolts to transmission tunnel, but the NA8 seatbelt stalk mounts to a runner attached to the transmission tunnel and the side of the seat.

Good to know that NA and NB clasps and buckles should be interchangeable. I still haven't got a solution that I am happy with for putting the NB seats in my car yet.

thanks for the info. I just bought a pair of nb seatbelt reels to replace my knackered na ones. I will report back here after fitting them.

Got the NB belts today. They have 1998 sticker/tag on them.

So in a 1989 NA6:
the NB male will go into the NA female clasp

the NB reel is slightly bigger then the NA and will not bolt up. A small modification is needed for the bolt holes to line up.

The NB reel does look more solid/ complex then the NA one, and is a upgrade.

Thanks for the info prior to buying these
