NA6 side impact bars

Can any current or previous owners of an NA6 confirm that all AUSTRALIAN delivered 1990-1992 NA6s have the same internal "side impact bars" that NA8s have?
A couple people on here suggesting that that's the case:
http://forum.miata.net/vb/archive/index ... 47104.htmlAlso read it on this forum after a search but just wondering if any NA6 owners have seen them with their own eyes when a door trim was off?
Thanks

Jeo seems to have them in his, but he's got a JDM import... I'm specifically wondering about ADM

As far as I know JDM NA6 do not have side intrusion bars, and it is a requirement for them to be fitted before they are properly complied.
Part of getting my car road worthy required me to either get them fitted into existing doors or use Australian NA6/8 doors; I was told this by the engineer at the time.

Don't know about 1990-92 but my Aust delivered 1993 NA6 has them.

Hi.
I posted about this yesterday however it did make it onto here. Lets try again.
I have seen lots of japanese eunos roadsters and they all have factory fitted door bars as the target market was USA where they were required. The post above re an engineer saying a car would need door bars is incorrect as he has assumed because most japanese imports need them without first inspecting the vehicle.

Okay thanks for all the feedback. Two owners with Australian delivered NA6s have them, so it would be reasonable (to me at least) to presume that all of them have them.

I have not assume, this is actually what happened to my car. I have inspected it before handing over to the engineer and he has sighted it before installing intrusion beams.
So do not bend my words and make me a liar.

ADR29 was introduced in 1977 for all passenger cars. Every model MX5 sold through Mazda Australia is fitted with them including the very first ones in 1989. They were not standard fitting on JDM spec until much later. Every 1989 & 1990 JDM import I've ever seen have not been fitted with them OEM.
They were required to be retrofitted to enable registration under the old 15 year old scheme. Some people just chose to fit AUS spec doors instead.

Koop, I think he means the engineer assumed, not you.

Hi.
Sorry if I upset you. Yes I was referring to the engineer not you.
